He reached out to Shani and from there they have been consistently organizing events and programs such as food drives, school supplies, toiletry giveaways, clothes drives, and a weekly tutoring program. He did research and began looking for a grassroots political organization in the DFW area which is when he found Diaspora United. Ryan gained political consciousness about a year ago and began reading theory written by Marx, Lenin, Mao and soon understood the necessity to organize. He is a member of Diaspora United, an intersectional mass line organization, which means they go into marginalized and oppressed communities and see what it is that the people need, what their demands are, and then create programs to meet these demands and increase the material conditions of the people within these communities. Ryan Ahmadian, age 19 and from Dallas Texas is currently going to school to get his masters in International Political Economy and then he will continue to law school to become a criminal justice lawyer. Shani wants to continue fighting for her people, fighting for women, fighting for children, and the many other marginalized people because everyone deserves a voice. Shani wanted to add more for women, especially Black women and to also be inclusive of people who she knew were marginalized because they don't receive enough representation. She started Diaspora United because growing up she didn't see too many organizations where women had equal voices & led their own organizations. Also known as Shani, she has always been interested in politics & other social issues, having a passion and being willing to help others and give back when she can, even if it is her last.
